Abingdon, Va. - Jackie “Jack” Ivan Hodge, age 79, passed away peacefully at home in Abingdon, Virginia on Saturday, November 14, 2020. Jack was born July 6, 1941, in Clintwood, Virginia to the late Jerry “Hobo” Hodge, and Universal (Counts) Hodge. He graduated from Clintwood High School and joined the U.S. Air Force. Following his military service, he entered into a civil service career with the Department of Defense, Naval Air Warfare (NAVAIR), retiring in 2003 after 38 years of combined federal service.
Jack loved playing board games, cards, fishing, the Dallas Cowboys, and spending time with his family and friends.
Jack is survived by his wife of 54 years, Alicia; son Jack Wayne and wife Estee; daughter Alicia Michelle Toms; grandchildren Devin Bruce Toms, Alicia Kiana Toms, their father Jeffrey B. Toms; sisters Zetta Ann Warner, Verna Sue Hibler, Mary Eloise “Ella” Cuddy, Rosa Gregory, Ina Hicks, Lila Carter; and brother Jerry L. Hodge.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his sister Nancy Konieczny.
The family will receive visitors on Saturday November 21, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, with a funeral service immediately following, Pastor Jerry Eggers officiating. Those wishing to view the service via internet may do so by visiting

Interment with Military Honors will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens Serinity Gardens Mausoleum.
Due to new Covid-19 guidelines, visitation is limited to a maximum of 25 persons at a time. As always at all events, face masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be followed.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Shriners Hospital for Children.
