Jackie Ray Jones

Abingdon, Va. 

Surrounded by his loving family, Jackie Ray Jones, age 84 of Abingdon, Va. went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 17, 2020. 

He was born on September 2, 1936 in Sofia, WV. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran from 1955 – 1959. Jackie was also a member of the Abingdon Fire Department as well as a police officer for the Town of Abingdon in 1964.

Jackie was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sandra Lynn Jones; father, Raleigh Jack Jones; mother Nannie Kathleen Jones. 

Left to cherish his memory are son, Michael Jones and wife Myrna Jones; grandchildren, Steven Jones and wife Amanda, Jonathan Jones and wife Brittany; great grandchildren Bryson, Emmett, Grayson, Brantley, and Gabriel Jones; sisters Peg Castle and Dream-a Gulledge; dear friend Gail Blevins. 

A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 20, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Adam Wise and Pastor Dewey Williams officiating.

Interment will follow in the Mountain View Methodist Church Cemetery where casket bearers will be selected from family and friends. Military graveside honors will be provided by the United States Air Force and the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard. 

Due to new Covid-19 guidelines, services are limited to a maximum of 25 persons at a time. As always, face masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be followed.
