Jackie Wayne Thomas

Jackie Wayne Thomas, 82 years old, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, Tennessee. He was born in Washington County, Virginia to the late Graham Thomas and Bertha Jual Miller Thomas on January 19, 1941.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Nina Kay Cullop Thomas, his two brothers, Kenny Thomas and Billy Thomas, and his two sisters, Phyllis Boardwine and Bobbie Wilkinson.

Jackie graduated from Meadowview High School. He worked at a Shell Station for two years, then drove a truck for 1½ years. When his father passed, he took to farming where he continued for the rest of his life.

On October 5, 1964 he married the love of his life; Kay Thomas. They were married for 51 very happy years. Throughout the years, he never met a stranger and not a conversation was less than an hour. Meeting new people and being social was his highlight the past couple of years.

Surviving are son, Farley Thomas (Angie); daughter, Cynthia Harvey (Tommy); adopted son, Alfredo Lopez; Grandsons, Nathaniel (Rufus) Hawthorne (Heather) and Lowden Thomas (Whitney); Great-grandchildren, Jackson Hawthorne, Holden Thomas, Harlowe Thomas, Lowen Thomas, Shaylee and Makenzie Martin.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Adoration Home Health, especially Shannon Ball RN, Dr. Tom Green and staff, Dr. Eugene McClintic and staff, Nephrology Team at BRMC, 4 East Nursing Staff, Dr. Hayter and Dr. Gach all for their care.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 14, 2024, from 5 pm until 8 pm at Farris Funeral Service, Main Street Chapel. The funeral will be held on Monday, January 15, 2024 at 1:00 pm, at Farris Funeral Service, with Pastor Thomas Prater officiating. The committal service will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be the Men of Lebanon United Methodist Church. Wayne Rector, Joe Waddell, Steve Powers, Phil Crane, Jim White and G.C. Brown will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Lebanon United Methodist Church, 15168 Greenway Rd., Meadowview, VA 24361.
