Jackson W. Jordan, age 80, passed on Monday, May 27, 2019, at his home. Mr. Jordan was raised in Russell County, Va. and was a 1956 graduate of Castlewood High School. As a young adult, he moved to Washington County and was an employee of VDOT for 35 years and W-L Construction and Paving for 10 years. Mr. Jordan was an avid golfer who was loved by all of his golfing buddies and also a former Deacon at Walnut Grove Presbyterian Church.
He is preceded in death by parents, Worley and Etta Holbrook Jordan; brothers, Beecher and Leon Jordan; and sisters, Merle Wright and Evelyn McConnell.
Mr. Jordan is survived by two daughters, Jenifer (Gary) Jones of Knoxville, Tenn. and Julie (Tim) Carter of Rural Retreat, Va.; son Jackie (Teresa) Jordan of Bristol, Va.; brothers, Joe (Florence) Jordan of St. Paul, Va. and Roger (Mary Ruth) Jordan of Castlewood, Va.; sisters, Beedie Decker of Reston, Va. and Bonnie (Ralph) Pearson of Castlewood, Va.; seven grandchildren: Ronnie Jones, Jackson Jordan, Brian Jones, Zac Carter, Luke Jones, Josh Jordan, and Morgan Carter; very best friend, Jean Vencill; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2019, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Ruth officiating. Interment will follow in Temple Hill Memorial Park with Dave Gilmer, Herb Morrell, Frank Buck, Mark McClanahan, Jeff Cullup, and Ken Taylor serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Hicks, Joe Dutton, Aaron Taylor, Tom Paris, and his golfing buddies at Clear Creek Golf Course.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org/donate, in Mr. Jordan’s name.
