Mr. Jacob Fullen, age 100, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 9, 2009 at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Virginia and was a son of the late George and Maggie Fullen. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Meadowview. During his life he loved many things, especially the LA Dodgers in baseball.
In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his wife, Olivene Fullen, as well as thirteen brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his sons, James Fullen and wife, Brooklyn of Meadowview, Harry Fullen and wife, Brenda of Alexandria, LA, and Jake Fullen, Jr. of Upper Marlboro, MD; his daughters, Joyce Lindsey and husband, Warren of Meadowview, and Mattie Mayo and husband, Lawrence of Washington D.C.; one sister, Lydia Fullen of Abingdon; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 12, 2009 at Farris Funeral Chapel in Abingdon with Rev. Danny Belcher officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens on Lee Highway in Abingdon. Pallbearers will be James Fullen, Jr., Jeff Fullen, Jon Fullen, Lawrence Mayo, Jr, Kevin Lindsey, and Aaron Fullen. The family will receive friends prior to the service Monday from Noon until 1:45 P.M.
