James Adam "Jimmy" Fields, 70, born March 24, 1941, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2012.
He was born in Russell County, VA but had spent most of his life in Abingdon. He had worked for Valleydale and had retired from Strongwell. He attended Barnes Chapel Church until he became home-bound.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Phelps Fields; parents, Mason and Virgie Fields; brother, Kenneth Fields and sister, Rebecca Ann Gobble.
Survivors include two sons, J. Todd Fields and Gregory Fields and wife Lisa of Abingdon; sisters, Loretta Reynolds and husband, Marvin of Abingdon. Eileen Smith and husband, Frank of Lebanon, VA, Sue Fields and husband, Don, Marie Wooten and husband, Randy, Joyce Keith and husband, Clyde and Sheila Spencer and husband, Johnny all of Abingdon; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 12, 2012 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Bill Reynolds and Pastor Eddie Gobble officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Roger Phelps, George Price, Earl Tignor, Jack Hickman, Jerry Kestner and Stephen Wise. Honorary pallbearers are Don Fields, Gene Martin, Randy Wooten, Bradley Wise and Ira Reynolds.
The family will receive friends at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service on Sunday, March 11, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Friends will also be received anytime at the home of Mr. Fields' sister, Marie Wooten and husband, Randy at 15489 Porterfield Highway, Abingdon, VA.
