James Albert Stewart, age 78, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2012 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Big Stone Gap, VA.
He was born February 10, 1934 in Clinchco, VA to the late Albert Henry Stewart and Evelyn Cassell Stewart. James served in the United States Army; he enjoyed cooking, collecting old coins and acrylic painting.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brothers, Joe and Denny.
Survivors include one son, Tim "Redhorse" Stewart of Chilhowie, VA; three daughters, Kaye Rea and husband, John of Kingsport, TN, Debi Jones of Chilhowie, VA and Rebeckah Armistead of Gordonsville, VA; grandchildren, Chris Booher, Garret Jones, Dakota Jones, Madison Jones and five others; one great-grandson, Raine Jones; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Temple Hill Cemetery in Castlewood, VA.Larry Wyatt, John Rea, Jimmy Miller, Gary Armstrong, Gary Lee Armstrong and Kenny Harris will serve as active pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, March 19, 2012 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service.
