James Alexander Eades

d. January 17, 2013

James Alexander Eades, a life-long resident of Washington County, went home to be with his Lord at his residence on Thursday, January 17, 2013. Mr. Eades was a 1955 graduate of Greendale High School. From a very early age, Jim learned everything he could and loved everything about cars from repairing them, painting, and driving them to buying, selling and trading them. He began his working career owning and operating Greendale Shell, while also driving a school bus for Washington County Virginia Schools at the age of 18.

From the late 1950's to 1977, Jim was president of the family owned Abingdon Chrysler-Plymouth-Dodge. From 1968-1990 he and his wife owned and operated Eades Florist and also owned and operated Eades Kars. He spent many years as a volunteer firefighter for Washington County and was a member of Abingdon Masonic Lodge #48.

The end of his working career was spent, full circle, working once again for Washington County Virginia Schools. After retirement, Mr. Eades enjoyed his vacation home in Myrtle Beach where he met and spent time with many special friends and family.

He was a loving husband, father, papaw, brother and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mont A. and Elizabeth Callahan Eades, and infant daughter, Shirley Ellen Eades.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dellene Worley Eades; three daughters, Teresa and Kevin Howden of Port St. Lucie, FL, Pam and Bob Sticken of Port St. Lucie, FL and Beverly and Freddie Tester of Bristol, VA; three brothers, Bob and Betty Eades of Abingdon, VA, Steve and Brenda Eades of Abingdon, VA and Mark and Crystal Eades of Troutville, VA; grandchildren, Mark and Esther Venable, Bo Venable, Chris and Claudia Hearl, Bryanna Tester and Elissa Tester; great-grandchildren, Amelie and Sergio Venable; brother-in-law, Paul and Dorothy Worley of Abingdon, VA; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
