James Arthur “Jim” Sack, age 73, of Abingdon, Va. and formerly of Buffalo, N.Y., went peacefully to be with the LORD on Tuesday, July 13, 2021. He was the beloved son of the late Arthur and Grace Sack. After receiving an honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps as a Corporal, Jim began his lifelong career in the automotive industry. He also enjoyed security work and was a bodyguard to many celebrities including Rich Little, Anne Murray, Helen Reddy, Phyllis Diller and NASA Moonrocks. In his later years, Jim enjoyed working in his quilt shop. He and his wife, Diane, and son, Joshua, attended Abingdon Presbyterian Church. Jim also enjoyed the company of his friends and family.
Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Diane (Collins) Sack; son, Joshua Sack; sister, Carol Kaczinski and husband, Ken; mother-in-law, Margaret (Calcek) Collins; sisters-in-law, Denise King and Beth Cidell and husband, Chris; several nieces and nephews; as well as many dear friends and relatives.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 16, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. at Abingdon Presbyterian Church, 18438 Lee Hwy., Abingdon, Va., with Pastor John Dawson officiating. The livestreamed service will be available at the Abingdon Presbyterian Church- PCA Facebook page. A committal service will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain Home National Cemetery, 215 Heroes Dr., Mountain Home, Tenn. 37684, where military honors will be provided by the United States Marine Corps. There will be no formal visitation, but a guestbook will be available at the church.
