James Dean “Jim” Moody, Sr., age 76, of Glade Spring, Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 22, 2021, at his home. Jim was born in Lancaster, Penn. and later relocated to Washington County, Va. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was employed as a residential painter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Dolphis Moody and Eugenia Grace Smith Moody; son, Justin Moody; three sisters; and two brothers.
He is survived by two sons, James Dean “Jimmy” Moody, Jr. and wife, Carrie, of the home and Elliott Keith Moody and fiancée, Pamela Fugate, of Abingdon, Va.; six grandchildren: Laken Snead and husband, Shane, Haley Moody, Dylan Widener, Courtney Robinson and husband, Jamie; Alicia Combs and husband, Dennis; and Harley Moody; and eight great grandchildren.
A committal service will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City, Tenn. with Pastor Stephen Richardson officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Boone Dam VFW Post 4933 and the Army National Guard. Elliott Keith Moody, James Dean Moody, Jr., Jamie Robinson, Shane Snead, Dylan Widener, and Justin Wilson will serve as pallbearers. Friends are welcome to visit at the family home.
