James Edward Eddie McVey, age 61, passed on Thursday, February 4, 2016, at his home. Eddie was a graduate of Holston High School and Virginia Highlands Community College and also worked at Glenrochie Country Club as a young adult. He was a gun enthusiast, loved to hunt, fish, play the guitar and do taxidermy. He is preceded in death by his father, James William McVey, and an infant brother.
Eddie is survived by his wife of 32 years, Debra Bennett McVey; two sons, Chris McVey and wife Judy of Meadowview, VA and Todd McVey and wife Cassandra of Abingdon, VA; mother, Sylvia June Spriggs McVey of Abingdon, VA; two sisters, Sue Evans of Saltville, VA and Janet Martin and husband Mike of Abingdon, VA; two grandchildren, Hunter Barton and Jaelyn McVey; one expected grandchild; and his dog, Benny.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 7, 2016, in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Rev. Carl Young officiating. There will be no visitation prior to the service.
