James Alvin Graybeal

Abingdon, VA – James Alvin “Jamie” Graybeal, age 44, passed on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at his home.  Jamie was a 1997 graduate of Abingdon High School.  Jamie held a Black Belt in Kung Fu for many years.  He loved practicing Kung Fu and loved to teach Kung Fu even more.

Jamie loved the Lord.  He was constantly reading his Bible that he carried everywhere and taught himself to read and understand Hebrew so he could read the original script.  Jamie was devoted to his mother and cared for her in the home and was also a dedicated friend to many.  He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Graybeal. 

He is survived by his mother, Patricia Graybeal; sister, Lisa Bolling and husband Frank; nephew, Jacob Bolling; special “little sister”, Hannah Brewer; aunts and uncles, Mary (Jerry) Leonard, Marcella (Johnny) Caudill, Avil (Roy) Mitchell, Gay (Walter) Repass, and Gloria (James) Stroup; special cousin who he thought of as a brother, Nick Snead; and many other cousins.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
