James “Jim” Henry Counts, 80, of Bristol, Va. and formerly of Russell County, Va., passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018, at Dominion Senior Living in Bristol, Tenn. He was born June 5, 1938, to the late James F. Counts and Helen Johnson Counts in Coeburn, Va. Jim attended the First Assembly of God in Bristol, Va. and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was retired from Clinchfield Coal Company.
In addition to his parents, Jim was also preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Jacquelene “Jackie” Couch Counts; brother, Elbert “Bud” Counts; and three sisters, Clara Mullins, Virginia Colyer, and Ramona Gordon.He is survived by his son, Rusty Counts and wife, Tamara, of Huntsville, Ala.; two daughters, Carla Hill and husband, Dan, of Glencoe, Ala. and Jimmi Kay Cline and husband, James, of Blountville, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Amy Nestor and husband, Josh, Ashley Counts, Tyler, and Nathan; four great grandchildren, Mercede, Hunter, Noah, and Madison; great-great granddaughter, Avah; brother, Robert Counts of Norton, Va.; and sister, Kay Woods of Abingdon, Va.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2018, at 4:00 p.m. at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Jeff Carico officiating. A committal service will be held on Monday, November 26, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Love Mausoleum of Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, Va. with Bro. Ron Dye officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service on Sunday from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
