James “Jim” Horn, 74, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Wellmont Hospice House. Jim was born on January 12, 1944 to the late Gallie Horn and Viola Bucklen Horn. He had lived in Washington County, Va. for over 30 years. He spent his entire life doing woodworking. He loved the Lord and loved going to church. He attended Gospel Tabernacle. He will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Doris Horn; two brothers, Rev. Lawrence Horn and Ralph Horn; three sisters, Inez Rife, Vina Barker, and Kathy Horn; and his beloved dog, Cocoa. Survivors include one daughter, Monica Reynolds and her husband Joseph of Glade Spring, Va.,”grandpup” Blondie; one brother, Gallie Horn, Jr. and his wife Wilma of Pilgrims Knob, Va.; nine sisters, Violet Rife and her husband Kermit of Pilgrims Knob, Va., June Keene of Pilgrims Knob, Va., Nina Whited and her husband Roger of Raven, Va., Dora Gregg of Shortts Gap, Va., Linda Profitt of Swords Creek, Va., Wanda Horn of Pilgrims Knob, Va., Virginia Anthony and her husband Joe of Upper Marlboro, Md., Susie Smith of Pounding Mill, Va., and Peggy McGinnis and her husband Larry of Paintlick, Va.; several nieces and nephews; and very special friends Judy Love, Mary Davis, and Mike, Karen, and Jonathan Hand.
The family would like to express thanks to Judy Love, Wellmont Hospice, and Home Nursing Service of Southwest Virginia for the excellent care that was provided to Jim.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM on Monday, August 20, 2018 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM with Pastor David Robins officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens, where Richard Horn, Willie Horn, Terry Horn, Joey Horn, Randy Keene, Garry Mullins, Bill Mullins, and Mike Hand will serve as casket bearers.
