James Kermite Salyers, Sr.

James Kermite Salyers, Sr., age 72, of Abingdon, Va., passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2016, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. He was born to the late Maynard Salyers and Alma Head Salyers on March 12, 1944, in Bandy, Va. Kermite was an established trim carpenter in Washington County for over 30 years and was well-respected in the community.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Dellanne Chaffin.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rosa Cannon Salyers; son, James Kermite Salyers, Jr. and wife Renee of Mt. Carmel, Tenn.; two daughters, Eva Ward of Abingdon, Va. Nia Conlon of Bristol, Tenn.; brother, Kenny Salyers and wife Vickie of Roan Mountain, Tenn.; two sisters, Lois Steffey of Florida and Jean Breeding of Abingdon, Va.; three granddaughters, Kaitlyn Salyers, Ciera Bowers, and Aisha Kayyali; six grandsons, Austin Estep, Cooper Estep, Majdi Kayyali, Matthew Kayyali, Devon Pickle, and Christian Pickle; four great grandsons; four great granddaughters; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Monday, September 12, 2016, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. According to his wishes Kermite will be cremated following the visitation.
