Bristol, TN – James Carroll “Jim” Lester, age 88, after a lengthy illness, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at his home. Jim was a graduate of Wallace High School and a career machinist. He and his son, Kevin, started the Lester Company together in 1996, which Kevin still operates. He was a lifelong member of Maple Grove Presbyterian Church as well as former president and board member of Kettlefoot Recreation and Gun Club.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Fred B. Lester, Sr. and Katherine Steel Lester; first wife, Nancy Charlene Lester, second wife, Wilma Musick Lester, and third wife, Georgie Fay Bowers Roark.
He is survived by his son, Kevin Lester and wife Pandy; sister, Linda Sutherland and husband Fred; brother, Fred. B. Lester, Jr. and wife Agnes; grandchildren, Jared Lester and wife Sarah, and Audra Williams and husband Keith; five great grandchildren, Kade Williams, Hannah Williams, Payton Williams, Charles Strand-Reece, and William Lester.
A brief memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Maple Grove Presbyterian Church, 14411 Black Hollow Road, Abingdon, VA, with Rev. Stephen Talbert officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Presbyterian Cemetery.
