James Ray “Jim” Dockins, age 68, of Bristol, Tenn., passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at the Bristol Regional Medical Center after recovery from heart surgery. Jim was a member of the Woodland Baptist Church in Abingdon, Va. He was employed by KVAT Food City, with over 40 years of service, where he was known as “Cornbread.”
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sara Lynn Dockins. Jim is survived by his wife of 27 years, Denise Kelley Dockins; his father and step mother, Paul Ray Dockins and wife Lela; four sons, Randy Dockins and wife Misty, Kenny Dockins and wife Cindy, Brandon McGeorge, and Daniel McGeorge and wife Lindsey; 12 grandchildren, Amber, Courtney, Logan, Jimmy, Danielle, Emily, Michael, Aiden, Noah, Fisher, Chloe, and Liam; two sisters, Joyce Little and husband Greg and Linda Patton and husband David; brother, Ronnie Dockins and wife Sharon; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A funeral ceremony for Jim Dockins will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Bob McCormick officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Saturday at the Main Street Chapel prior to the funeral. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 18, 2017, at the Asbury Cemetery, 5100 Asbury Cemetery Rd., Knoxville, Tenn. 37914, with Pastor Ed Cloud officiating. Kenny Dockins, Brandon McGeorge, Daniel McGeorge, Ronnie Dockins, Matthew Little, and Andy Wilson will serve as pallbearers. Those attending the committal service are asked to convene at the cemetery at least 15 minutes prior to the service.
