Meadowview, VA – James “Vern” Hill Eggers, age 61, passed peacefully at his home on Tuesday, November 10, 2015. He is survived by the love of his life, Frances Stapleton of the home; children, Melinda Ann Eggers and Jamie Ray Eggers, both of Mt. City, Tenn.; step-children, Deborah Stapleton of Elizabethton, Tenn. and Randy Stapleton of Duffield, Va.; siblings, Wiley Eggers, Carolyn Calhoun, Ruby Eggers, Judy Furches, Jean Eggers, and Mary Rose Eggers, all of Mt. City; grandchildren, Dustin Ray Russell, Laura Jane Gilliam, Dakota Gilliam, Grace Allison, and Sam Stapleton; special aunt, Rose Tester; and several nieces and nephews. Vern was born to the late Reece Hill Eggers and Grace Brown Eggers on November 21, 1953, in Mt. City, Tenn. He will be remembered most for his kind, humble, loving spirit. His family, friends, and community were his treasures here on earth. Vern and Frances have cleaned numerous businesses for many years during which time they made lifelong friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Sam Stapleton, and brother, Glen Eggers. Visitation with the family will be held 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Stanley Jones and Dickie Kegley officiating. A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Dunn Memorial Cemetery, Highway 167, Mt. City, Tenn., with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend the committal service are asked to convene at the cemetery before 11 a.m. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Living Faith Ministries.
