James W. Hawkins, Born July 3, 1943 went to be with the Lord on July 9, 2011. He was a life long resident of Meadowview, VA.

James was preceded in death by his life long companion Polly Hawkins; his parents, Earnest and Jane Hawkins; two grandchildren, Jacob Hawkins and Quinton Moore.

James is survived by two brothers, Sammy Hawkins of Russell County, and James Matthew Hawkins "Lil James" of Russell County; three sons, Willard Hawkins of Abingdon, VA, Kenneth Hawkins and his wife Melinda of Meadowview, VA, Freddy Hawkins and his wife Rachel of Bristol, VA; five daughters, Patty Snead of Meadowview, VA, Pauline McCoy and husband Matthew of Meadowview, VA, Ruth Moore of Florida, Alice Price and husband Chris of Lebanon, VA, Trisha Hawkins and her fianc�©e Nathan Dillard of Bristol, VA; twenty two grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.

A song service will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 7:00 P.M. at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 427 East Main Street, Abingdon, Virginia. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. in the Helton and Hawkins Cemetery, Meadowview, VA with Pastor Paul Price officiating. Pallbearers will be Matt McCoy, Ivan Caudill, Robbie Gobble, Chris Price, Nathan Dillard, Michael Dotson, John Curtis McCoy and Tony Caudill.
