James William “Bill” Moore, of Meadowview, Va., died Saturday, April 28, 2018, with family present. He was born September 10, 1926, to James Frank Moore and Verna Dell Gilley Moore in Meadowview, Va. Bill graduated from Meadowview High School and attended school in Chicago for electronics training. Over the years he received dozens of awards for accomplishments in the electronics field. Bill worked at Raytheon and Monroe with Secret and Confidential Clearance working on Government projects in the 1960’s- 1970’s, Bill particularly enjoyed electronics repairs, radios, cross-word puzzles and the newspaper jumbles along with visits from his nephew, Steven Moore. Bill was a member of NRA and local gun clubs and enjoyed target shooting, receiving awards for marksmanship. Bill is a member of Meadowview United Methodist Church.
Bill is predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Robert David Moore and Fred Montgomery Moore, and sister, Betty Joyce Moore Boswell.
He is survived by his brother, Jerry Douglas Moore (wife Katy) of Meadowview, Va., his sisters, Mary Alice Moore of Baltimore, Md., Sylvia Sordillo (husband Tom) of Baltimore, Md., and Linda Makowski (husband Larry) of Gloucester, Va., and special cousin, Peggy Reynolds (John Reynolds, Jr.) along with dozens of cousins, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2018, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. David Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2018.
