Meadowview, VA – Jamie Danielle Carty, age 23, passed on Thursday, November 20, 2014, in Lexington, KY. Jamie was born in Morganton, NC, lived in Roanoke for many years, and moved to Meadowview, VA in 2004. She was a 2009 graduate of Patrick Henry High School and was currently a senior at the University of Kentucky. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Daniel and Rosie Charles, and several aunts and uncles. She is survived by her mother, Georgia Charles Fitzgerald of Meadowview, VA; father, John J. Carty of Lexington, KY; paternal grandparents, Jack and Agnes Carty of Lexington, KY; half-sister, Georgeanna Hores Johnson; aunts, Maxine Burks, Stephanie Loesser, and Sharon Diffley; uncle, Oliver Charles; and several special cousins who she loved dearly. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m., Monday, November 24, 2014, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A song service will follow the visitation at 7:00 p.m. A second visitation will be held 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, at Virginia Funeral Home in Grundy, VA. A song service will follow the visitation at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at Virginia Funeral Home in Grundy, VA. Interment will follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park in Big Rock, VA with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
