Jane Pratt Rasnick

Abingdon, Va. 

Jane Pratt Rasnick, 83, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 21, 2019. She was born in Pulaski, Va., daughter of the late Samuel Pratt and Ruth Sloan Pratt. Jane graduated from Montreat College and later taught school at John Hancock Academy. She moved to Abingdon in 1977 and was a member of Meadowview United Methodist Church for 42 years. One of her greatest loves was caring for children. She enjoyed children and had helped care for the Rev. Billy Graham’s children while she was in college. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Allen Rasnick, Sr., and her brother, David Pratt.  

Jane is survived by her children: Allen Rasnick and wife Tiphanie of Catawba, Va., John Rasnick of Bristol, Va., and Susan Rasnick of Abingdon; grandchildren Derrick Rasnick and wife Tonya, Cody Rasnick, and John Reed Rasnick; and great-grandson Conner Rasnick. 

The funeral service for Jane Pratt Rasnick will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 24, 2019, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with the Rev. David Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens where family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Sammy Vaughn. The family will receive friends from noon until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Meadowview United Methodist Church Youth Group, Post Office Box 255, Meadowview, VA 24361.
