Jeanie Mitchell

Jean Walker Kreger Mitchell – Jeanie Mitchell, age 72, of Abingdon, VA , died on April 12, 2022, at Abingdon Health and Rehabilitation.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Jean Walker Kreger, her father, R. Bradley Kreger, and a sister, Claire Kreger Rodrigues.  She is survived by her husband of 52 years, James E. “Buddy” Mitchell; three daughters, Kathryn Kreger Mitchell of Abingdon VA, Molly Ammons Mitchell of Old Town Alexandria, VA and Anne Walker Mitchell, of Old Town Alexandria, VA; her son, Jimmy Mitchell, his wife Aarin and their two daughters, Emma Jean Mitchell and Elisabeth Bonnie Mitchell, all of Birmingham, AL; two sisters, Betty Kreger Atkins of Abingdon, VA, and Anne Krispin Kreger and her husband, Phillip Bose of Olga, Wash.; and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.  

Jeanie was a 1967 graduate from Abingdon High School where she was the president of the Student Council Association and Miss Abingdon High School her senior year.  She attended the University of Georgia for a year followed by the University of Kentucky where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Education in 1971.  Jeanie taught in the Oconee County Georgia High School and Bristol Virginia High School systems.  At the time of her death, she was a Real Estate Broker and Sales Agent associated with Callebs Realty in Abingdon.  She was a member of Pleasant View United Methodist Church. 

The Mitchell Family wishes to thank all their friends and family members who have assisted them in this time of sorrow.  A private committal service will be held at Knollkreg Memorial Park.
