Jerlene Baker Mullins

Bristol, VA –

Jerlene Baker Mullins, age 86, passed away at her home on Monday, November 19, 2018. She was from Clintwood, and had moved to Bristol 18 years ago. Jerlene was a faithful Christian and loved her church, First Free Will Baptist Church of Bristol. She worked most of her life making a home for her husband and children.

She was predeceased by her parents, Robert Earl and Dolores Farmer Baker, and her husband of  42 years, Starland Mullins.

She is survived by her sons, Robert Starland Mullins and wife Lynn of Richmond, VA and Richard Darrell Mullins and wife Karen of Bristol, VA; daughter Regina Dolores Mullins and husband David Guthrie of Magnolia Springs, AL; stepdaughter Brenda Gail Shortt of Alexandria, VA; brother Kermit Doyle Baker and wife Donna of Baltimore, MD; sister Etta Baker Petit and husband Hylton of New Orleans, LA; grandchildren Brooke Cuddy and husband Bob, Caitlin Davis and husband Michael, Erin Jarrell and husband Byron, and Benjamin Mullins and wife Jenny; great grandchildren Beau Mullins and Laurelai Cuddy.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the First Free Will Baptist Church of Bristol, 1741 Euclid Avenue, Bristol, VA with Pastor David Mizelle officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Senior Men of the Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Church, on Friday November 23, 2018.

Those attending the service are welcomed to wear something red or a hat to honor Jerlene’s fondness of fashion and color.

Jerlene requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the First Free Will Baptist Church of Bristol, 1741 Euclid Avenue, Bristol, VA 24201, or to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231, www.heart.org/donatenow.
