Jerry Clifton Daniels, 65, of Abingdon, VA passed away in Saturday, February 19, 2011 in Grundy, VA.
He was born August 5, 1945 and was the son of the late Ples and Emma Daniels. Jerry was a veteran of the U.S. Army, an active member of the VFW Post 1790, member of the Masonic Lodge, Grundy, VA, and retired from Jewell Coal and Coke in Vansant, VA after 33 years. He attended Highlands Fellowship Church.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 42 years, Betty L. Daniels of Abingdon, a son, Jerry K. Daniels of Abingdon; a daughter, Angela R. Saunders, and her husband, Clayton of Charleston, SC; a brother, Dean Daniels and his wife Sue of Abingdon; two sisters, Wanda Sue McCall and her husband George of Woodbridge, VA, and Sandra Kay Timberlake and her husband Richard of Richmond, VA; and one granddaughter, Savannah R. Saunders.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00, Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at Farris Funeral Service, 427 East Main Street, Abingdon, VA with Reverend Paul Ketron and Reverend Jim Walker officiating. A procession to Mountain View United Methodist Cemetery for burial will follow the service. Graveside rites will be conducted by Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and Virginia National Guard Honor Guard
The family will receive friends at Farris Funeral Service, 427 East main Street, Abingdon, VA Monday, February 21, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M..
