Jerry Senter, 73, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 21, 2010 following a long illness.
He was born in Kentucky and was a son of the late Aldo and Omega Branham Senter of Clintwood, VA. He served with the U.S. Air Force from May of '54 to December of '57, and served two years in Alaska as clerk, attaining the rank of Airman 1st. He was a retired educator and served as Magistrate on the Fiscal Court in Pike County, KY. Jerry was a member of Ashcamp Regular Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Cullen of Bristol, VA and one brother, Enoch Senter of Clintwood, VA.
He is survived by wife of 53 years, Fayetta Potter Senter; one daughter, Kimberly Rene Senter of Abingdon, VA; two sisters, Jean Tamaska and husband, Joseph of Elizabethton, TN and Marianne Gibson and husband, James of Bristol, VA and nieces and nephews.
The family would also like to thank Dr. Jonathan Dixon and his staff for their service and care.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 24, 2010 in the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Hwy, Abingdon, VA with Ministers Carson Wright and Michael Ramsey officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Military honors will be conducted by Highlands Fellowship Veteran's Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Steve Gibson, Joseph Gibson, Aaron Gibson, Michael Senter, Terry Senter and David Dean. Honorary Pallbearers will be Darrell Ray Mullins, James Mullins, James Gibson, Joseph Tamaska, James Ward and Dickie Chaney.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at Forest Hills Chapel with a song service to begin at 7:00 P.M with Rev. Jim Walker officiating.
