Jervie Dwaine Rasnick

Davenport, VA – Jervie Dwaine Rasnick, age 74, passed on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, in Huntington, WV.  Jervie was born in Dickenson County, VA and was a graduate of Haysi High School.  He was a U.S. Army veteran and earned his bachelor's degree from Radford University.  Jervie was briefly a school teacher, owned his own paint and body shop, and later retired from Universal Fibers (CAMAC) after 26 years of employment.  Jervie was of the Baptist Faith and a firm believer in the power of prayer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence “Shorty” Rasnick, Sr. and Mary Stevens Rasnick; wife, Linda Jane Owens Rasnick; and his brother, Lawrence Rasnick, Jr. 

Jervie is survived by his daughter, Rebekah Sullivan of Davenport, VA; grandson, Lucas Sullivan of Davenport, VA; niece, Melody Helton and husband Matt; nephew, Trevor Owens; sister-in-law, Judy Rasnick of Bristol, VA; brother-in-law, Terry Owens and wife Patti; and great niece and nephews, Rosi Owens, Isaac Helton, and Xander Owens.

Visitation with the family will be held 4-6 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2023, in the Forest Hills location of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA.  Funeral services will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Stephen Sneed officiating.  Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by the Virginia Army National Guard. 

Graveside committal services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Owens Family Cemetery, Davenport, VA.  Pallbearers will be Marty Barton, Mick Compton, Matt Helton, Richard Rasnake, Ronald Tiller, and Bufford Owens.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Rasnake, Kenny Rasnake, Don Keene, Harold Olinger and his many friends at Universal Fibers.
