Jimmy Everett Lewis, 78, passed on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, in Mt. City Care & Rehabilitation Center. Jimmy was a graduate of the old Damascus School and a U.S. Army Veteran. He loved to fish and loved hunting for ginseng.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie H. Lewis, Sr. and Harriet Elizabeth “Maw” Rash Lewis; wife, Roxie Allene Pierce Lewis; and brother, Paul Lewis.
He is survived by his children, Kathy Henderson of Damascus, Va. and Jackie Lewis of Abingdon, Va.; brothers, Lonnie H. (Mary) Lewis, Jr. of Damascus, Va. and Tom (Joanie) Lewis of N.C.; three grandchildren, Gage, Kyra, and Emma Lewis; special great-niece, Tamra Woods; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2018, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Steve Spencer officiating. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Larry Brown, Russell Lewis, Dean Miller, Michael Reed, Bill Thomas, and Bobby Mullins serving as pallbearers. Military Rites will be conducted by Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard.
