Joan Dale Rouse Cook, age 70, peacefully passed away on October 14, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones in Bristol, VA. She was born on December 4, 1952, to the late Paul Junior Rouse and Esther Zelma Brown Rouse. She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend.
Joan's journey began in Bristol where she grew up and attended Sullivan East High School. She cherished her educational years and valued the knowledge she gained during that time.
Throughout her life, Joan was known for her incredible talents and creative spirit. She had a passion for knitting and crocheting, which brought warmth to the lives of those around her. Her skillful hands could transform a ball of yarn into beautiful creations that became treasured heirlooms. Joan's love for building projects was evident in every stroke of the paintbrush and every refurbishment she undertook. She had an eye for detail and a knack for turning houses into homes.
Family meant everything to Joan. She leaves behind a legacy of love and beautiful memories cherished by her children Jennifer Pruitt (Brad Dommel), Timothy White (Lori Hodge); three sisters, Dorothy Perry (Wayne), Debbie Rymer (Lonnie), Kathy Edwards (Toby) grandchildren Acacia Pruitt, Bryson Rector, Morgan McClain, Madalynn White, Jacob White; Thelma Rouse (sister-in-law) and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Simcox, brother Johnny Rouse and sister, Sally Rouse.
No matter how busy life became or how ambitious her projects were, Joan always made time for those she loved. Her genuine care for others touched countless lives and left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Joan's kindness knew no bounds, and her vibrant spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with her. Her infectious laughter filled every room she entered, bringing joy and light to even the darkest of days.
Joan may no longer be physically present, but her beautiful soul will forever shine on as a beacon of love and inspiration for all of us who were fortunate enough to know her.
