Joe B. Mongle, Jr.

Abingdon, VA – Joe B. Mongle, Jr, age 75, passed on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Grace Health Care. Joe was a graduate of North East Louisiana State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and was the owner of Mongle’s Market for over 25 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe B. Mongle, Sr. and Ethel Ramey Mongle.
He is survived by his daughter, Laura Joe Mongle of Bristol, VA; sister, Judy Murphy and husband Billy of Pensacola, FL; special friend and caregiver, Nellie “Kathy” Jones of Abingdon, VA; and cousin, John Mongle.
Visitation with the family will be held 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 29, 2017 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Zach Wynegar officiating. Interment will follow in Knollkreg Memorial Park with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Johnston Memorial Hospital, especially Dr. Paul Armstrong and staff, as well as Abingdon Ambulance Service for their care of Mr. Mongle.
