Joel "Wayne" Adkins, 47, of Abingdon went to be with his Lord Jesus peacefully at his home Wednesday morning, August 24, 2011.
Wayne was known for his expertise in hanging drywall. He loved to hunt and fish and spending time with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Burton Adkins; one sister, Anna Cheryl Adkins; and good friend, Brandon Jackson.
Survivors include the love of his life, wife, Paula; daughter, April of Michigan; son, Devon of Abingdon; grandson, Billy Jennings, Jr. of Michigan; his parents, Arlene and Michael Harris of Michigan; five brothers, Keith Adkins and wife, Tash; Richard and wife, Linda; Curt Adkins; Gary Adkins and wife, Shelly; and Greg Adkins; one sister, Lorrie and husband, Darren Dobel; several nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles, long-time best friend, Barry Robinson; and many in-laws that will love and miss him dearly.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 3:00pm at Mountain View United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be friends and family. The family will receive friends from 1:00 2:30pm Saturday at Farris Funeral Service, Main Street Chapel.
