John Edward Bryan, 62, went home to be with the Lord on September 26, 2011.
He was born, October 14, 1948, in Washington County, VA to the late Chester O. and Minnie Leigh Neal Bryan. Following his graduation from Patrick Henry High School in 1967, he served in the United States Army. He recently retired from Columbus McKinnon after 38 years of service. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Abingdon.
Survivors include, his wife, Peggy Phillips Bryan; one sister Martha Bryan, Abingdon; one sister-in-law, Penny Avery, Abingdon; one brother-in-law, Raymond Phillips and wife, Sue of Abingdon; special nieces and nephews, Kenneth, Tara, Amber, Hunter, Shelbie and Dylan; and many dear friends.
The funeral service for John Bryan will be held at 7:30 pm, Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Les Ketron officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:30 pm until the time of the service. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 11:00 am at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Dave Walker, Kenneth Phillips, Michael Canter, Bryan Williams, Raymond Phillips, Steve Hawkins, John Purdue, and Joe Owens. Honorary pallbearers will be Loyd Alexander, Keenan Blevins, Chris Wright, Tom Shepherd, Jack Brooks, Donnie Foster, Larry Gobble, and Don Lowe.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Central Baptist Church Building Fund, 24461 Mock Knob Rd., Abingdon, VA 24211.
