John "Johnny" Edward Houser, 58, passed away on July 13, 2011 at his home in Lexington, SC. He was born in Abingdon, VA on September 27, 1952 to Willie Mae Powers Houser and the late John Houser, Jr.
Johnny was a 1971 graduate of Abingdon High School. In 1975, he graduated from Virginia Tech with an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering; and received a Masters Degree in Business from the University of South Carolina in 1981. Johnny recently retired from Eastman Chemical after 35 years of employment. While working for Eastman, he worked 10 years in Spain and Holland.
He is survived by his mother, Willie Mae Powers Houser; one daughter, Lauren Smith and her husband, Chris of Lebanon, TN; and one grandson, Miles Smith.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to a church of your choice in memory of Johnny.
A celebration of Johnny's life will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Brother Calvin Gobble officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of the service. The committal service will follow in the Colonial Chapel Mausoleum.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chris and Miles Smith, Mack Powers, Jack Chafin, Wayne Chafin, Wayne Houser, Allen Houser, Claude Shortt, and Carl Houser.
