John Herschel Dunn

Mr. John Herschel Dunn, age 63, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

John was born July 2, 1953 in Bristol, VA, to the late Robert Herschel Dunn and the late Elizabeth Stallard Dunn. John was formerly employed by Bristol Compressors and Interstate Bowl of Bristol. He was a member of Damascus Road Baptist Church and also attended Crosspointe Church of Bristol. John loved to bowl and was an avid sports fan but, most of all, he loved the Lord.

John is survived by his wife, Barbara Dunn; one son, John Travis Dunn of Blountville, TN; one, daughter, Alisha Nicole Canter and husband, Greg of Bristol, TN; three grandchildren, Jordan Fitzgerald and husband, Hunter of Blountville, TN, Savannah Canter of Bristol, TN, and Breanna Dunn of Jonesborough, TN; one brother, Bobby Dunn of Bristol, VA; four sisters; Sara Montgomery and husband, Butch of Indiana, Doris McConnell and husband, Jeff of Abingdon, VA, Mickie Vanover and husband, Danny of North Carolina, Mary Grizzle and husband, Dennis of Bristol, TN. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m., Thursday, February 9, 2017, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. John E. Massey, Jr. and Pastor Keith Williams officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until time of service. The committal service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, February 10, 2017, in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. All those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:40 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Hunter Fitzgerald, Joe Hobbs, Larry Beavers, Butch Montgomery, Tiger Pugh, and David Karshner.
