Mr. John "Blair" Hinchey, age 82, of Abingdon, Virginia went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 13, 2011.

Blair was retired from Southern States Cooperative in Abingdon, Virginia, was a farmer in Washington County, and served as a member of the Washington County Farm Bureau Board of Directors for many years. He was an elder at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Abingdon. Most importantly, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Blair was preceded in death by his parents John Quincy and Mae Morris Hinchey, his sister Lois Rollins, his brothers Marvin, Hulan (Bud), and Don and a son-in-law, James Russell. His son, Danny preceded him in death in January 1972.

Blair is survived by his loving wife and faithful companion of 60 years, Lucille. He is also survived by his daughters Kathy Russell of Bristol, Tennessee; Pat O'Dell and husband Russell of Greeneville, Tennessee; and Donna Collins of Abingdon, Virginia. His sons John Hinchey, Jr. and wife Brooke of Bristol,
Tennessee and Teddy Hinchey and wife Sherry of Abingdon, Virginia.

Also surviving are his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jamie (Harold) Glovier and Morgan;
Jonnie (Larry) Leonard and Jordan; Lauren O'Dell and Trandon; Roseanne (Tim) Walker and Christian,
and Caroline; Rachel (Brent) Haller and Braeden and Avery; Kari Collins and Tyler, Danielle, and Austyn; Cory Hinchey; Brittany, Bridgette, and Brandon Garden; and Natasha Hinchey; his sister Janie Davis and husband Vernon of Hampton, Virginia; his brother Garnett Hinchey and wife Bonnie of Meadowview, Virginia; his sisters-in-law Peggy Hinchey of Abingdon, Virginia and Irene Hinchey of Roanoke, Virginia; and many nieces and nephews whom he cared for deeply, also survive.

The family expresses heartfelt thanks to daughter-in-law Sherry Hinchey, grand-daughters Jamie Glovier and Jonnie Leonard, and niece Brenda Thomas for their loving care and support of Blair.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 16, 2011 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastors Irvin Wyatt and Gary Roark officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens in Abingdon. Pallbearers will be his sons Teddy and John Hinchey, Russell O'Dell, Brian Hinchey, Troy Hinchey, Irvin Wyatt, Jim Crabtree, and Gary Raines. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie McConnell, Cory Hinchey and Tyler Mitchell.

The family will be receiving friends at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 15, 2011
