John Hopkins McConnell

John Hopkins McConnell, age 73, got his angel wings early Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born on April 28, 1946 in Lebanon, Va. John served in the United States Army in the 82nd Airborne Division and attended Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church.

He is preceded in death by his father Floyd Bradley McConnell, Jr. and his mother Mildred Bundy McConnell.

He is survived by his daughter April Marie McConnell and his son John Bradley McConnell. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Scotty Williams, Skylar Carbary, and Rebecca Price; brother Scott Bradley Ratcliff; and multiple great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor James Steffey officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until time for service. Military honors will be conducted by the Virginia National Guard. As part of the service, the family would like for friends and family to speak and tell stories or submit a story to the family so they can ensure it will be shared.
