John Robert "Johnny" Ross, Jr.

John Robert “Johnny” Ross, Jr., 65, of Bristol, Va., passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at Johnston Memorial Hospital.  He was born October 16, 1953, to the late John Robert Ross, Sr. and Hazel Mae Gentry Ross in Washington County, Va.  He formerly attended Charles Wesley United Methodist Church, served his country in the United States Air Force and was a former employee of Interstate Bowl.

In addition to his parents, John was also preceded in death by his sister, Rita Ross.  He is survived by his brother, Milton Ross and wife, Barbara, of Hampton, Va.; four sisters:  Linda Robinson and husband, Furman, of Rixeyville, Va.; Dorothy Ross of Abingdon, Va.; Teresa Ross of Salem, Va.; and Mildred “Missy” Ross of Abingdon, Va.; three nieces, Amber Robinson, Adrian Anderson, and Rhinda Piggee;  two nephews, Furman Robinson II and LaFiamma Ross; four great-nieces; two great-nephews; a great-great niece; and a great-great nephew.

A funeral ceremony will be held at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Dwayne Knight officiating. A committal service will be held at the Mountain Home National Veterans Cemetery in Johnson City, Tenn. on Thursday, April 4, 2019, at 10:00 a.m.  Military honors will be provided by the Boone Dam VFW Post 4933 and the United States Air Force.  Pallbearers will be Jeremiah Foreman, Joshua Foreman, David Lambert, Sterling Ellison, George Pope, William Washington, and Steve McLemore.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
