John Stuart Orr

Ft. Walton Beach, FL- John Stuart Orr, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, November, 5, 2014 at Ft. Walton Beach Medical Center. He was born to the late Thomas Orr and Lola Nelson Orr on December 9, 1923. John was a proud veteran of the United States Army having served during WWII and received a Purple Heart for an injury sustained in Germany. He retired from Appalachian Electric Power with over 30 years of service. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his loving wife, Theadora Jacqueline McCann Orr; his second wife Naomi Yates Orr; three brothers, Si Orr, Charley Orr, and Bud Orr; and three sisters, Betty Lawson, Eula Mae Hill, and Virginia Blevins. He is survived by four sons: Gene Orr and wife Kathy of Destin, FL; Allen Orr and wife Debbie of Shady Valley, TN; Dale Orr of Meadowview, VA; and Tommy Orr and wife Dawn of South Bend, IN; sister, Jean Vannoy of Bluff City, TN; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2014 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral ceremony will be held at 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Pastor Harley Farmer officiating. A committal service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 10th at Sunset Memorial Park where Phillip Martin, Dustin Orr, Jordan Orr, Michael Orr, Steve Orr, Wesley Orr, Sollie Rabun, and William Rosenbaum will serve as pallbearers. Former co-workers from Appalachian Electric Power will serve as honorary pallbearers. Military honors will be presented by the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard.
