John T. Briscoe, age 75, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012 at his home. He was a former employee of Raytheon Missile Plant in Bristol, TN, was employed as a truck driver for Mason-Dixon Truck Lines in Kingsport, TN, and farmed tobacco. He was a lifelong member of the Green Spring community.
He was born to the late Charles Cooper and Monnie Rush Briscoe. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Donna Belle Briscoe; and one brother, Samuel Joseph Briscoe.
He is survived by four sons and their wives: John and Kimberly Briscoe of Abingdon, VA; Mike and Tanya Briscoe of Abingdon, VA; Tim and Holly Briscoe of Abingdon, VA; and Mark and Kimberly Briscoe of Rutledge, TN; three brothers and their wives: Charles Victor Briscoe and wife Betsy of Harkers Island, NC; Robert O. "Jack" Briscoe and wife Phyllis of Abingdon, VA; and Richard Lee Briscoe and wife Maria of Abingdon, VA; and four grandchildren: Michael Briscoe, Matthew Briscoe, Connor Briscoe, and Carter Briscoe.
A funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Jon Martin and Rev. Jerry Eggers officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the funeral home. Those wishing to attend the committal service are to convene at Green Spring Church Cemetery at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, May 3, 2012.
Pallbearers will be John Briscoe, Mike Briscoe, Tim Briscoe, Mark Briscoe, Michael Briscoe, Matthew Briscoe, James Beau Briscoe, and Robert O. Briscoe, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be William W. Briscoe, Lance Jones, Billy Richard Rush, Don Minnick, John Kelley Clark, Jack Abel, Tom White, Sr., Eddie McConnell, Richard Root, Gary Easterly, Mark White, and Joseph Charles Briscoe. The family would like to especially thank caregivers Gina Robinson and Aimee Wise, as well as Dr. Robinette and Dr. Jonkers, for their compassion during this time of need.
