Mr. John William Helton, 79, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2010 in Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion, VA.
He served in the U. S. Army and was a member of the McCall's Gap Presbyterian Church and attended Old Glade Presbyterian Church. He also was a member of the American Legion Post #141.
John is survived by a brother, James Helton, Glade Spring, VA, four sisters, Sarah Helton, Carrie Lamie and Irene Tuggle all of Glade Spring, VA, Margaret Harris, Emory, VA.
A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at 1 PM in the Old Glade Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Reverend Tim Bird officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Highlands Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 9, 2010, 7-9 PM at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service.
