Johnny Lee Canter

Mr. Johnny Lee Canter, 62, passed away Monday, April 29, 2013 at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born February 26, 1951 to Johnny and Grace Canter. Johnny had previously worked at Valleydale; he then worked at Bristol Compressors until his retirement due to health issues. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Johnny is now walking the streets of gold with his Lord.

He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Canter, and his brother Billy Canter. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Canter of Abingdon; son Kevin Lee Canter and wife Robin of Abingdon; daughter Janie Tiller and husband Raymond of Abingdon; step-son Shane Denton and wife Danielle of Abingdon; mother Grace Canter of Bristol, VA; brothers Larry Canter and Tommy Canter, both of Bristol, VA; sisters Peggy Rasnake of Salem, VA, and Jean Gilmore of Pearisburg, VA; and seven grandchildren.

The funeral service for Johnny Canter will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Kirby Miller and Paul Price officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until the time of service Thursday night at the funeral home. The graveside service and burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 3, at Forest Hills Memory Gardens, and those wishing to travel in procession from the funeral home to the cemetery are invited to meet at the funeral home by 9:30 a.m. Friday. Pallbearers will be Eddie Gobble, Larkin Garland, Gary Roark, Robbie Robinette, Travis Miller, and Clell Farmer. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Roger Hearl, Daniel Graf, Junior Plummer, and friends from Bristol Compressors.
