Jon Marc Herndon

Jon Marc Herndon, age 57, of Abingdon, Virginia, went peacefully home to be with the Lord on July 17, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his loving wife, children and family, following a brave battle with cancer.   Born on March 26, 1966, in Norton, Virginia to the late Graham William Herndon and survived by his mother, Darlene Elizabeth Herndon and his two brothers, William Dwayne Herndon (Christy) and Richard Lee Herndon (Teresa). 

As a devout Christian of over 30 years and a member of The Church of New Beginnings, Jon Marc Herndon will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. Jon is known for being a dedicated husband, an amazing father, and an adored grandfather.   Jon had a remarkable ability to bring joy and laughter to everyone around him.  He made a lasting impact through his love for Christ, his kindness and his willingness to always lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His hard work ethic and strength has been admired by all for many years. 

Jon leaves behind a cherished legacy and will be forever remembered by his beloved wife of nearly 31 years, Jennifer Ann Herndon, and their six children: Nichole Stout (Robbie), Katie Cheek (Ray), Jenalee Robertson (Billy), Luke Herndon, Meghan Herndon, and Levi Herndon. He was a proud and loving grandfather to seven grandchildren: Aubree, Abigail, Lincoln, Mazie, Lillian, Liam, and Jameson. He was also loved by his brother and sister-in- law, Michael and Toisha Gary. As well as Jon and Jennifer's 10 nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held at Farris Funeral Service at 427 E. Main Street, Abingdon, VA on Friday, July 21, from 6-8pm.   A funeral service will be held at The Church of New Beginnings at 10495 Forest Hills Drive, Glade Spring, VA 24340, on Saturday, July 22, at 11:00 a.m. with David Gilliam and Jeff Wallace officiating.  The burial will immediately follow at Forest Hills Memorial Garden at 19415 Lee Hwy, Abingdon, VA 24210.

Jon's family would like to thank the numerous friends and family that have outpoured their love and support to his family during these hard times.
