Josephine Addison Thompson

Josephine Addison Thompson "Granny Jo", 90, passed away at her home on Wednesday, February 29, 2012.
She was born December 15, 1921; was a lifelong resident of Washington Co, VA and a daughter of the late Charles Allen and Mary Elizabeth Hockett Addison. She was an avid reader and enjoyed several community senior citizens groups. She was also a member of Yellow Springs Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, Ed, and Dave Addison.
Survivors include her sons, Roy Thompson and wife, Becky and Gary Thompson and wife, Lynn all of Abingdon; daughters, Mary Orr and Robin Snider and husband, Robert all of Meadowview; one brother, Curtis Addison of Abingdon; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, March 4, 2012 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Dale Myers officiating. Interment will follow in Wolfe Cemetery in Meadowview, VA. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Doug Barrett, Buddy Norris, Buddy Mann, Shayne Crenshaw and Sam McCrady.
The family will receive friends at Farris Funeral Service from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. Saturday, March 3, 2012 or at anytime at the home of Roy and Becky Thompson, 27144 Honey Locust Road, Abingdon, VA.
