Joyce Jacqualene Wilder Grant Owens, age 89, of Abingdon, Va., formerly of Dickenson County, Va. passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at NHC HealthCare Rehabilitation in Bristol, Va. surrounded by loved ones.
She was the second of eight children born to the late James and Martha Wilder. She was born December 5, 1927 in Harlan, KY. At an early age she moved to Lafollette, TN.
She was an entrepreneur, having co-founded and run The Owens Café, The Rainbow, and The Wild Goose. She enjoyed gardening and working in her flowers. She also loved to dance and could often be found at the Carter Fold with her daughter and granddaughter.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Silas Grant and husband June Owens, brothers, James Richard, Paul Frances, John William and one sister, Mary Ruth and the love of her life for 24 ½ years, Frances “Doc” Owens.
Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Grant Jackson and husband, David Jackson of Bristol, VA, Granddaughter, Joy and Great Grandsons Simon and Jake of Bristol, VA. She is survived by brothers Jan and his wife, Kay of New Smyrna, FL, Robert and wife, Kay, of Abingdon, VA and Marshall and companion, Mazel, of Lafollette, TN.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2017, at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:50 p.m.Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Main Street Chapel at Farris Funeral Service.
