Joyce M. Cole

Joyce M. Cole, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at NHC Healthcare. She was born in Abingdon and had spent her entire life in Washington County. Joyce was a Charter member of the Suburban Christian Church, where she was active and church projects and activities. She loved travelling with her family, and working in her flower garden. She will be lovingly remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Joyce was predeceased by her parents Alonzo and Lottie Sprinkle McDaniel; her husband Jack S. Cole and brother Jack McDaniel. She is survived by her son Gerald “Jerry” (Karen) Cole of Bristol; daughter Cheryl Spivey (Doug) of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren Sara Spivey Holley (Josh) GA, and Beau Spivey (Jodi) of Hoover, AL; and great grandson Jackson Cole Green.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, November 24, 2017 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rich Pannell officiating. Interment will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery; Bristol, VA where casket bearers will be selected from the men of Suburban Christian Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until the time for the service.

The family would like to offer heartfelt thanks the Joyce’s special care giver Angie Alford and to the Staff at NHC for the loving care given to Joyce.
