Juanita Gay Wise, age 81, of Abingdon, Va., passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at her home. She was born December 13, 1935, to the late Malcom Wise and Susan Harless Wise. Juanita was an avid quilter and gardener.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Norman “Debo” Wise; brother, Sammy Sullins; and sister, Josie Gobble.
She is survived by two sons, Lonnie Wise and wife Missy of Big Stone Gap, Va. and Steven Wise and special friend Nina Dotson of Abingdon; daughter, Connie Martin and husband Darrell of Abingdon; two brothers, Elmer Wise of Abingdon and Tommy Wise and wife Betty Jo of Abingdon; four sisters: Carolyn McCallister and husband Clyde of Crozet, Va.; Lue Murray of Abingdon; Christine Wright and husband Frank of Abingdon; and Becky Hudler of Abingdon; four grandchildren, Jessica Fleenor, Ashley Sharrett, Brandon Martin, and Chelsea Lawson; and six great grandchildren.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2017, at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, Va. 24210, with Bro. Paul White officiating. A committal service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at Forest Hills Memory Gardens where William Boyd, Dwayne Lawson, Brandon Martin, James Nunley, Adam Sharrett, Tim Smith, Jamie Sullins, and Rob Vestal will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Monday, February 13th at the Forest Hills Chapel prior to the funeral ceremony.
