Abingdon, Va. – Judy Catherine Moore Currey, age 71, of Abingdon, Virginia, passed away at Johnston Memorial Hospital, on Monday, November 8, 2021, following a long battle with illness. She was born November 1, 1950, in Damascus, Virginia, to the late Norman Arlington and Willy Clifton Clark Moore. Judy attended Holston High School before receiving her training as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the William N. Neff Vocational Center.
Judy worked at the Harwood Sewing Factory before beginning her career as a nurse at Johnston Memorial Hospital, where she worked 22 years in Critical Care and 10 years in Orthopedics.
She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, and cooking (especially her homemade biscuits and gravy). Judy was deeply spiritual, and she put a lot of care into everything she did. She will always be remembered as loving and compassionate, a good wife and mother. The best days of Judy’s life were spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Lloyd.
She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Randall Scot (Randy) Currey; sons: Tyler James Currey, and Donald E. Lloyd; daughter: Angela Dawn Brockwell; brother: Philip Moore and wife Linda; sister: Elsie Kendig and husband Don; three grandchildren: John Mullins, Kayla Adkins, and Tanner Lloyd; and two great-grandchildren: Ariana, and Aleah.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM, Friday, November 12, 2021, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service (427 E. Main St., Abingdon, VA 24210).
