Abingdon, Va. – Judy Ellen Plummer Russ, age 68, of Abingdon, Virginia went home to Heaven peacefully on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Judy is now free of pain and no longer missing Daniel, her beloved husband of 45 years. They are now walking the beautiful streets of gold.
Judy was born in Abingdon on April 26, 1952 to the late Noah Franklin Plummer and Nancy Price Plummer. She will always be remembered as a loving, caring, and giving homemaker, who worked many jobs through the years to do whatever necessary to take good care of her family. Judy dearly loved all her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Nana.” She also enjoyed growing flowers, especially roses. Judy was a devoted member of Free Zion Church, which also held a special place in her heart.
In addition to her parents, and her husband, George Daniel Russ, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Phyllis Walden, and Annie Davenport.
Judy is survived by her three sons, Freddie Nunley III and fiancée Toni, Anthony Russ and wife Tammy of the home, and George Russ and significant other Samantha Keating; one brother, Junior Plummer; one brother-in-law, Bob Davenport; one special friend, Frances Thacker; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Monday, January 4, 2021, at 1:00 PM, at Knollkreg Memorial Park, with Preachers Paul and Mike Norris officiating. Anthony Russ, Freddie Nunley III, Dustin Russ, Charles Casey, Troy Kestner, and Leslie Kestner will serve as pallbearers. George Russ will serve as honorary pallbearer.
