Judy Russell Puckett

February 6, 1944 — December 22, 2024

Abingdon

Like a twinkle in the sky, a blessed and caring lady—Judy Russell Puckett—has left this mortal plane. She joins her beloved husband Harold Puckett and dearest son Doug Puckett whom life was incomplete without. She helped prepare those left behind with unmatched love and strength including her granddaughter Ashlee Hill, grandson-in-law Justin Hill, great-grandson Denny Harold Hill, and another great-grandchild who has yet to be born. She is preceded in death by her parents, Kate and Homer Russell as well as her brother Dale Russell and sister Nancy McVey.

Judy was part of a big family that relied on her for guidance and support—both of which she never failed to provide. She was a proud aunt to Amber Spahr as well as dutiful Mammaw to Jesse Spahr, Skylar Gunn, JT Gunn, and Aidan Gunn. It was common to find her brother-in-law Charles Puckett and his wife Melia Puckett over for Sunday lunch. She was often a go-to babysitter for many nieces and nephews over the years, whose time she cherished to be a part of. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Rhonda Puckett Wingate.

She spent many years working at Park's Belk on Main Street in Abingdon where she could often be found causing trouble and wrapping gifts with her best friend Bonnie Caldwell. When she wasn't knee deep in work, she could also be found at football games with Donna Cooper cheering on the Dallas Cowboys.

Though her departure feels untimely to those who remain, she is undoubtedly where she belongs and in the loving arms of her family. The family asks for privacy during this time and will not hold a service but welcomes anyone to reach out with their favorite memories and stories.

The family of Judy Russell Puckett is being cared for by Farris Funeral Service and Crematory, 427 E. Main Street, Abingdon, VA 24210 (276) 623-2700.
