Julia Elizabeth Mitchell

Julia Elizabeth Mitchell, wife of Robert L. “Bob” Mitchell, age 84, passed away on Wednesday September 7, 2022, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. Julia was born in Mt. Dora, FL; however, Bob’s work took them to many locales. She had lived in Raleigh, NC, Watauga, TN, Galion, OH and lastly Abingdon since 1993. She was a member of Maple Grove Presbyterian Church. Over the years Julia had worked in the telecommunications manufacturing industry and retail sales. Her mission in life was to love and care for her family. Julia will be remembered for her unswerving generosity to others.

She was predeceased by her parents Silas and Helen Hall Black, son Richard D. Mitchell, sister Mary Bird, and brothers Joe, Bill and Larry Black.

Julia is survived by her loving husband Robert L. “Bob” Mitchell, daughter Robin Smith and husband Dana of Abingdon, sister Nita Painter of Galion, OH, brother John Black of Madison, WI, grandchildren Richard Andrew Mitchell (Rose), Bobbi Villareal (Gabe), Emily Smith (Matt Bettis), Julie Langston (Drew), Audrey Wilkinson (John Riley), and Yenesew Smith, 13 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service on Sunday September 11, 2022 from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Stephen Talbert officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Richard Andrew Mitchell, Nicholas Mitchell, Yenesew Smith, Matt Bettis, Drew Langston, and John Riley Wilkinson.
